Episode 01: About Kayla & This Podcast
Hi, my name is Kayla Griffin and I am your host for this podcast. I am the CEO of Emerging Art Guide, a coaching business that helps new, emerging, and student artists reach their professional art goals.
I’m also a university visual arts instructor, and an artist myself.
I designed this podcast because I want to help struggling artists recognize the struggle and learn how to overcome each challenge. I want fine art to be a realistic career choice for more people.
Every other week, I will be interviewing established artists and other professionals in the art industry. I will help you learn how they got where they are and what you need to do to make your dreams a reality.
This podcast covers visual art in all its different forms as well as the professionals in the art industry like art directors, curators, collectors, and marketing professionals. I will also have episodes where we focus strictly on building confidence in our art and overcoming the challenges of shyness.
I am choosing to cover such a broad range because not every artist wants to make a living selling their art. In fact, I am one of those artists. Sure, I love creating art and it is nice when it sells – but my ultimate dream is to help artists…like you…who are struggling to figure out how to reach their goals. I got my Master of Fine arts in painting because I wanted to teach…I created my coaching business because I find my joy in helping other artists.
I also have a Masters’s degree in communication and teach communication courses like public relations and marketing. This is where I combine both fields of knowledge and experience.
Finally, if you are interested in tailored coaching – I am eager to work with you one-on-one to overcome your specific challenges. I currently coach a gallery owner in Belgrade, Serbia…and a full-time painter in Puerto Rico. If you can’t afford to coach or don’t know if you need it…I would love to talk to you anyways for 15-20 minutes. I can help you visualize your goal more clearly…or just listen to your frustrations about the visual art industry. If you are interested in interviewing on my podcast…please also reach out.
